Achatz Handmade Pie Co. is a business that was dreamed up by Dave and Wendy Achatz while they operated a restaurant nestled in downtown Armada, Michigan. During the restaurant's 14 years patrons jammed the tiny dining room for the excellent food, especially the handmade pies made from scratch the old-fashioned way. After selling the restaurant the Achatz's continued baking pies in the kitchen of their home. With the strong will and dedication of a small group of workers the Achatz's sold pies baked in their tiny flour covered kitchen- at the holidays the cars would line up all through town!

Demand for the pies grew to such huge proportions that the couple knew they had to grow their business. They purchased a pole barn on a local apple orchard, converted it to a bakery, and Achatz Handmade Pie Co. was born. Today the tiny bustling shop boasts 40% of it's business right from it's cozy storefront, and has wholesale accounts with many fine restaurants such as Kruse & Muer, and many markets as well, like the Chicago-based Whole Foods Markets. Detroit area stores from Ann Arbor to Port Huron demand deliveries nearly every day!

Realizing that their pie shop in Armada was nearly at capacity, the Achatz's decided to open their first retail store in Troy Michigan in November of 2001, and have since opened another, this time in Oxford Michigan. And the journey only continues... as Achatz Handmade Pie Co. continues to grow and expand our buildings, locations, and customers, our commitment to provide you with "the best pies you'll ever taste" remains the same! We demand excellence and take pride in offering you nothing but the finest natural ingredients in our pies. In turn, we hope the dedication we receive from our customers will continue to grow and expand along with our business!
